Depending on the style, a Solitaire engagement ring usually signals to the world that you have timelessly elegant taste. Its symbolic meaning is entirely up to you and your partner, and may also vary depending on your chosen diamond shape. But generally, the single diamond highlighted in the ring symbolizes your unity as a couple, or is a celebration of having found “the one.”

In short, yes, a 6-prong Solitaire engagement ring is more secure than a 4-prong engagement ring. But 4-prong settings are still incredibly secure, so deciding between settings should be based on your style and taste. 

The two additional prongs featured in a 6-prong setting will add an extra layer of security to your diamond solitaire. Individuals might choose this setting for that reassurance or simply because they love the style. 

But both 4 and 6-prong settings need basic care; you should always remove your engagement ring before any sort of manual labor, like gardening, or before exercising with weights or practicing yoga, for example.
