How to buy a Two Tone engagement ring

Speak with our diamond experts for a custom-designed engagement ring. Tell them your ideas for a custom Two Tone setting. They’ll help you understand which custom details are possible, then guide you through the white-glove design process.

When you buy an engagement ring, your decision should be based on personal taste, not trends. However, there are best-selling Two Tone styles that continue to be coveted.

Vintage-inspired Two Tone rings
Because the Two Tone engagement ring is a modern twist on our Classic Solitaire setting, its overall look is a blend of new and vintage style. For a completely vintage-inspired Two Tone ring, consider Asscher-shaped diamonds, beloved since the Art Deco era, or fancy shapes such as Pear or Marquise.

Oval Two Tone rings
This diamond shape not only adds classic elegance to the Two Tone’s overall look, but also maximizes carat weight.

By selecting a Hidden Halo engagement ring featuring diamonds sustainably created in our zero-emission foundry, as well as platinum or recycled solid gold, you are celebrating your values alongside your love. The VRAI created diamonds featured in your setting is free from human or environmental toll — which means you can enjoy its beauty, guilt-free.

Princess cut two tone engagement rings in white gold FAQs

A Two Tone engagement ring is a setting featuring two different metal colors. VRAI Two Tone rings are available in solid yellow or rose gold with platinum prongs. This contrast in tones makes the VRAI created diamond appear to “float” above its gold band as the platinum prongs seem to blend in with the diamond’s color.

Choosing a wedding ring set to pair with a Two Tone engagement ring presents you with many options. You and your partner may choose rings that match the solid yellow or rose gold in your engagement ring or select platinum bands to pair with the prong setting. Matching with the gold will create a classic, more traditional look overall. Contrasting with platinum bands — a look that continues to grow in popularity —  will result in a style that is a modern take on a timeless pairing.

Yes, Two Tone engagement rings are as durable as other styles. All of VRAI’s engagement rings are made from platinum or solid gold, never plated or vermeil, and are crafted to last a lifetime. For the Two Tone engagement ring, the addition of platinum prongs — which are known for their strength as well as their pristine shine — makes this style even more durable than its solid gold counterpart.

A Two Tone can enhance the appearance of colorless diamonds. For those wanting a solid yellow or rose gold ring to highlight their D-F colored diamonds  — also known as colorless diamonds, with no yellow hints — a Two Tone is more advisable. The platinum prongs won’t imbue the colorless diamond with more color. The prongs also blend more naturally into the diamond.

Each of our Two Tone engagement rings are available in sizes 3 through 11 and can be worn by women, men, or gender noncomforming individuals within that size range. For a Two Tone setting in a larger ring size or varied style, speak with our diamond experts or begin the custom-design process.

Because our unisex bands and rings do not feature an engagement-ring style prong setting, we do not currently offer other Two Tone designs. If you would like to create your very own Two Tone ring, we encourage you to begin the custom-design process to see what options are available to you.
